AI, Change, and the Future of Work

Good evening. I am Ram Chan, speaking to you from Mumbai, India. Today, you, I, and everyone around the world are consuming AI and data. Our experiences have already changed, and they will continue to change. We are changing our habits.

It is real. Let me repeat: it is real.

Those who are afraid, or are still speculating, must realize that ignorance is not an option. Lack of awareness is dangerous. The wise path is to learn what AI is, what it can do, and how it will affect us. A wealth of knowledge is available today—through ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar platforms. Dig in. Ask questions. Become aware.

The Unprecedented Adoption of AI

For the first time in history, a technology like ChatGPT has reached mass adoption in such a short span of time. Those who keep philosophizing or remain uncertain will be left behind.

My recommendation is simple:

• Get ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar tools.

• Learn through them what AI and Generative AI truly are.

• Understand what they can do, and how you can use them.

If you don’t, you will go nowhere.

Jobs Will Be Eliminated

Let us not sugarcoat the truth: jobs will be eliminated.

• The number of organizational layers will shrink.

• Cost reductions will continue.

• Decisions will be made faster, at lower cost, and often with better quality.

So here’s the question: Are you going to be a victim, or are you going to be a leader? Will you help those affected by this change to learn new skills, new jobs, and new ways of using algorithms?

The demand for people who can adapt is strong. What matters most is your mindset—whether you are an individual, a leader, a manager, or a middle manager.

The Mindset Shift

AI is a tool. It will be used. You can either resist it, or you can use it constructively to become a better performer.

In the next five years—or perhaps sooner—most economies will be fully digital. Right now, anyone with a smartphone is already using AI. And remember: your data is being used—for you, and sometimes against you.

The Automation Wave

All paperwork, manual processes, coding, contracts, and even call centers will be digitized or automated by AI.

It is already happening. Not tomorrow—today.

You can even ask ChatGPT:

• Which jobs have already been digitized?

• Which jobs will be digitized in the next 12 months?

And you will get a list.

The reality is simple: each of us is the captain of our journey, our destiny, and our career. Some industries are ahead, some are behind, but all will face this wave.

AI as a Source of Intelligence

One of the most unbelievable parts of this change is that people must now believe the output of AI tools.

From prompts, they generate:

• Intelligence

• Insights

• Advice

• Presentations

• Options

Think of it this way: you no longer need to spend hours in a library searching for books. Today, AI gives you the same knowledge—globally, in less than a minute.

Examine it. Double-check it. But accept that it is now the best library in the world, at your fingertips.

Decision-Making with AI

If you write strong prompts (even up to 1,000 words), AI will give you a variety of options for solving a problem. You may not accept them all, but your imagination will be expanded.

Humans can handle only a few variables at once. Algorithms can handle billions. Let the machine do the heavy lifting, while you apply judgment, intuition, and common sense.
